Bill Murphy

Bill has 25 years business experience gained in roles as a business owner, business investor, General Manager, CFO, accountant and business advisor in businesses in the US, UK and New Zealand.

Bill has worked in / advised businesses in many different sectors including manufacturing, building, IT, transport and export. He has a particular speciality advising on equity raising, business sales and purchases.

Bill is Executive Director at Enterprise Angels, the Bay of Plenty's Angel Investment Forum, which is now the second biggest Angel Investment group in New Zealand. In this role, Bill takes startup businesses and businesses requiring capital and prepares them for 'pitching' before Enterprise Angels members, a group of experienced and wealthy business owners and investors.

Hon Simon Bridges

MP for Tauranga   |  

Simon has been the MP for Tauranga since 2008. Since being elected, Simon has been a member of the Law and Order Select Committee, the Auckland Governance Select Committee, the Maori Affairs Select Committee and is a former Deputy-Chairperson of the Justice and Electoral Select Committee. In the current National-led Government, Simon is Minister of Consumer Affairs, Associate Minister of Transport, Associate Minister for Climate Change Issues, and a member of the Education and Science Select Committee.
Prior to entering politics, Simon was a Crown Prosecutor in the District and High Courts. Simon had been a prosecutor in Tauranga since 2001, working largely on jury trials. He moved to Tauranga from a role as litigation lawyer at a major legal firm based in Auckland. He has worked as a volunteer in local organisations and on neighbourhood projects. He enjoys being active in the community and the great lifestyle that Tauranga has to offer.

Mayor Stuart Crosby

Mayor Crosby has a strong background in Local Government. He has been an elected representative since 1986, serving as chairman on various committees and a period as Deputy Mayor.
Mayor Crosby also has a business background both in the electrical contracting and building industries, having owned and operated various businesses. Stuart has served on a number of prominent Boards, including Civic Venues Ltd which owns and operates the Baypark facilities on behalf of the Tauranga City Council, and Tauranga Joint Generation Committee which owned and operated the hydo generation facilities in the Lower Kaimais. Mayor Crosby now devotes all of his time to the position of Mayor both within Council and to the wider community.
His vision is for a “City of all ages” based on providing for today and planning for tomorrow.

Candace Kinser is the Chief Executive Officer of NZICT, the national association representing the Information and Communications Technology organisations for New Zealand.
Candace is an experienced CEO and Director in the technology and life science sectors for both corporates and start-ups. Known as an evangelist for commercialising innovation, she is passionate about using technology to enhance business and grow capability. Candace is also experienced in dealing with government officials and agencies at the most senior levels both in New Zealand and internationally on policy issues, lobbying for industry affairs and in creating linkages. She is also enthusiastic about getting young women interested in higher education and careers in technology, science and business from a young age and is an active guest lecturer at universities.

Brett Roberts

Brett Roberts is Chief Executive of Wharf42, a Tauranga-based technology connector and co-founder of Business IQ, a business and technology strategy consultancy with offices in Auckland and Los Gatos, California.

Before starting Business IQ in January 2010, Brett spent 12 years with Microsoft New Zealand in a variety of senior management roles including OEM Director, Director of Platform Strategy, Director of Innovation and National Technology Officer. Prior to that he was Asia Pacific Volume Licensing Manager for Software Spectrum Inc. who he joined in 1993 after 13 years at Air New Zealand where he worked as an Avionics Engineer, software developer and IT manager.
